For this new site devoted to the creative culture of Burlington, VT we created a responsive design with an array of custom features: touch-responsive sliders, a floating mobile-ready menu and a fully-integrated advertising program, to name a few. We also created a personalized preferences system where users can register for an account, indicate what kinds of events they’re interested in, and see a personalized slider on the homepage.

Cookies and Cups

Popular food blogger Shelly Egglestone Jaronsky wanted to spruce up the homepage of her website, Cookies & Cups, which at the time only showed her most recent post. After listening to Shelly’s ideas we went to work creating mockups of designs that would meet her needs. Shelly selected a unique layout that includes a featured section for her latest post and thumbnail-based columns that allow site visitors to browse more of her recent recipes.

Here’s what Shelly had to say about her experience:

“I recently worked with Ari on a blog ‘tweak.’ I had some *very specific* ideas that I wanted implemented and not only did she go above and beyond my expectations, she did it quickly and with much patience! I have worked with designers in the past and this was the most pleasant and effective experience I have ever had! Ari also took my ideas and added her creativity making the whole design so much better.”

When re-designing this site we wanted to create an image that summarized what we do: turn ideas into websites.

With Spring just around the corner the concept for this photo manipulation was born. Be sure to activate the slider, which shows before and after versions of the image.

Dobra Tea Vermont

Dobra Tea serves a wide variety of teas inspired by their travels around the world. Their knowledge of teas, traditions and ceremonies is impressive to say the least.

Working together to select the layout, color scheme and images, Dobra’s new website showcases everything their tea room has to offer. In addition to a sortable tea-menu we also added photo galleries, a blog and integrated the site with their popular Facebook page.

Ha Nachash

Created using 32 stock images and textures in combination with digital painting. Titled “Ha Nachash,” which means “The Serpent” in Hebrew, this manipulation is based upon a legend that says the serpent in the Garden of Eden was actually a woman named Lilith.

Website Launch: Dobra Tea VT

Design for Vermont is proud to announce the launch of a new website for Dobra Tea VT. Dobra’s bohemian tearoom is located in downtown Burlington and serves over 100 different varieties of loose-leaf tea along with a selection of light fare from local vendors. After working closely with Dobra owners Stacey and Nina, we created a unique website design the reflected the look and feel of their tearoom.

In addition creating and hosting their website, Design for Vermont also integrated Dobra’s existing Facebook page into the design and trained Dobra’s staff so that they would be able to update their website going forward. They now have the ability to share travel photos, write blog posts and update text on their website without having to rely on the services of an outside party. Design for Vermont continues to provide website maintenance on a as-needed basis.

Design for Vermont created several excellent designs for our website. We have a lot of information to get out and the final design delivers our message beautifully.

Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center

The Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center provides professional development and career planning services for early childhood and afterschool professionals.

We completely redesigned their original website, creating a user-friendly design that made it easier for visitors to find the information they were looking for. Once the new design was complete, we trained staff at Vermont Northern Lights to use WordPress so that they would be able to maintain the site going forward.

David Sokol Artist Website

Burlington artist David Sokol wanted an affordable website where he could showcase his artwork, book and upcoming CD. A former psychologist, David now focuses his energies on the topic of antisemitism – exposing it and working against it through his art.

Using David’s art as inspiration, we created a design that used darker colors, paint textures and had image galleries where he could share his work.
